Green School faculty explore the intersection of history, experience and memory in the construction of national and cultural identities, the shaping of political discourse and civic life, and the debates related to race and decolonization, all underscoring the importance of historical inquiry in international and public affairs. Such inquiry and the phenomenon of collective memory is especially significant in societies dealing with the aftermath of conflict, human rights abuse and genocide. At the core of this humanities-based, historically rooted approach is also a public-facing research agenda that allows communities and individuals to reflect upon and celebrate diverse heritage and traditions.
