Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy
Founded in 1985, FIU’s Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy advances public policy and national security studies. The institute is committed to strengthening the competitiveness of students and professionals for the national security and cyber policy workforce. It offers certificates, fellowships and learning experiences that set FIU’s graduates apart:
- IC-CAE Intelligence Fellowship – FIU is designated by the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence as a U.S. Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence, a program that partners with select universities to increase diversity in the intelligence community.
- Cyber Threat Intelligence Fellowship – This cybersecurity workforce program includes the Cybersecurity Intelligence & Information Policy certificate program curriculum, CompTIA Security+ certification, workshops and roundtables, mentoring and internships.
- Diplomacy Lab – This partnership with the U.S. Department of State engages university students and faculty experts in research on foreign policy challenges.
- Policy Lab – The Policy Lab features applied public policy learning experiences through capstones and fellowships and internships with government agencies, NGOs and private-sector organizations.
Economics
The Green School’s Department of Economics offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. With 588 economics students (Fall 2023), FIU is preparing a diverse pipeline of future economists. Economics majors and minors have secured positions with employers that include Charles River Associates, PwC, Citi, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Visa, Raymond James, Amazon, Honeywell, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the World Bank, the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Graduates have also attended prestigious law schools, MBA programs and PhD programs.
