Bio
Marcela Lopez Bravo holds a Ph.D. in International Culture and Communication Studies from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan and two Master’s degrees: one in Linguistics and another in Asian Studies from Florida International University (FIU). She has over 15 years of university teaching experience not only in the US, but also in China, and in Japan. Currently, she teaches in the History Department and at the Asian Studies Program. Marcela has been recognized with multiple excellence in teaching awards nationally and internationally. Her interdisciplinary research interests include Japanese studies, emerging media (including Gen AI), virtual reality applied to teaching, cultural geography, linguistics & intercultural communication, and collaborative online international learning (COIL) collaborations. Marcela also leads study abroad programs to Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
