Bio

Dr. Li Ma is a Teaching Professor of Chinese in the Modern Languages Department. She also serves as the Chinese program coordinator, the advisor for the FIU Chinese Club, the organizer of the annual FIU Chinese New Year Gala, and the Summer Study Abroad Faculty Director. She has mentored M.A. students in Asian Studies, advised master’s theses, and supervised Foreign Language Teaching Assistants from Beijing, Xi’an, and Taiwan.

Dr. Ma has taught all levels of Chinese courses (levels 1-4, Intermediate Conversation, and Business Chinese). In recent years, she has also expanded her course offerings to include "Self-Cultivation in China" and "The History of Women in Asia." She is fully certified to teach hybrid and online courses. She's also a Global Learning Distinguished Faculty.

A longtime member of ACTFL, Dr. Ma has held leadership roles with the Chinese Language Teacher Association - FL Chapter (CLTA-FL), including Vice President, President, and Advisory Board member.
