Bio
An accomplished philanthropist, writer and documentary-filmmaker, Ms. Green has headed the Green Family Foundation (GFF) since 1997. Under her leadership, GFF has spearheaded global health initiatives that have affected the lives of thousands of people across the world and in her local Miami community. Ms. Green personally oversees GFF's partnership with the University of Miami through the Green Family Health Initiative (GFHI). This initiative helps drive the University of Miami Medical School's groundbreaking work with pediatric infectious diseases and funds Project Medishare, an adjunct program designed to help rebuild the health care delivery system in Haiti, the Western Hemisphere's poorest country. Most recently Kimberly wrote, directed and produced the award-winning documentary Once There Was a Country: Revisiting Haiti.
Furthermore, Ms. Green and GFF's close association with FIU has resulted in the creation of both the Steven and Dorothea Green Library and the Digital Library of the Caribbean, as well as the establishing of NeighborhoodHELP (Health, Education, Learning, Program), where students of the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine work with medically under-served families throughout Miami-Dade County.
Green is an Honorary FIU Degree recipient, and a former member of the President's Council. Her philanthropic investment in the Kimberly Green Latin American and Caribbean Center at the Green School continues to expand FIU’s impact across the hemisphere.
