We are pleased to announce that the Office to Advance Women, Equity & Diversity (AWED) has appointed Dr. Carleen Vincent-Robinson, Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, as GSIPA's Equity Advisor and Faculty Fellow for 2020-2021.
Dr. Vincent-Robinson, as part of her duties, will work collaboratively to implement GSIPA's and the University's Diversity Equity & Inclusion Action Plans. As Equity Advisor, she will engage with GSIPA faculty search committees on strategies to recruit a diverse applicant pool and best practices for evaluating and interviewing candidates and help departments improve faculty retention and satisfaction.
Dr. Vincent-Robinson also will serve on the AWED facilitation team that develops and offers the STRIDE and Diversity Advocate workshops pertaining to faculty hiring; the new STRIDE workshop for College Tenure & Promotion Committees (required as of Fall 2020 for all chairs, deans, and faculty serving on college tenure & promotion committees), and the Bystander Leadership Workshops that address diversity and inclusion issues at the departmental level.
The AWED Faculty Fellows program is supported by the Provost and Deans in support of FIU ADVANCE , FIU's five-year $3.2 million NSF Institutional Transformation grant that is aimed at increasing diversity, equity and inclusion among faculty and within departmental and college climate.
