Green School of International & Public Affairs publishes policy-focused reports, white papers and proceedings addressing a variety of subjects that reflect contemporary global issues and the outstanding research and scholarship of our faculty. Third Green School Miami Conference on Global Democracy confronts the evolving threats and tools shaping democratic resilience

The 2025 Miami Conference on Global Democracy, hosted by the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs at FIU, brought together experts, policymakers, and activists to address the challenges and opportunities facing democracy worldwide. The conference featured discussions on topics such as the role of technology in strengthening or undermining democracy, elite capture by authoritarian regimes, and the collapse of democracy in Venezuela.

Panels and keynote conversations explored issues like cyber resilience, misinformation, AI neutrality, and the influence of foreign powers on democratic governance. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and resilience in defending democracy, with closing remarks emphasizing the ongoing pursuit of democratic ideals in an ever-changing global landscape.
