Bio
Martin Brown is a graduate student in Global Affairs at Florida International University, pursuing the Globalization and Security track after completing his B.A. in International Relations and Political Science at FIU.
He currently serves as an Open-Source Analyst at the Jack D. Gordon Institute, where he aids in managing the Security Research Hub’s database on Chinese activities in Latin America and the Caribbean. In this role, he has updated analysis on PRC activity in the Panama Canal, published a dataset on Chinese energy investments in Latin America, and delivered research at U.S. Southern Command, the NGA’s GEOINT forum, and the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation’s Spatial Edge event. Furthermore, he has published in The Diplomat, Infobae, and Americas Quarterly.
Martin has also conducted research on China’s electric vehicle investments in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico, which he presented at the FIU Undergraduate Research Conference Spring 2025 and State Department's Overseas Security Advisory Council Spring 2025 conference. Additionally, he briefed the U.S. State Department on emerging technology export controls in 2024. Earlier in his career, he served as a Simulation Manager for the National Student Leadership Conference, teaching diplomacy and national security simulations at Georgetown and Columbia University.
