Bio

I earned my PhD in Sociology at the University of Michigan. I received training at the Population Studies Center and Survey Research Center, Institute for Social Research. My research interests include demography, development, contemporary China, Latin American studies, and survey methodology. I have published peer-reviewed articles on Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS), Social Science Research, Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, Chinese Sociological Review, Chinese Journal of Sociology, Research in the Sociology of Work, Politics and Religion, etc. I have also served as Co-PI for the FIU Cuba Poll since 2020.  My current research mainly focuses on the immigrants and other vulnerable populations in South Florida, as well as China's role in regional development in Latin America.
