In the News: Economics Undergraduates at URFIU

Two teams of FIU Economics undergraduate students recently showcased their research at the Undergraduate Research Conference at FIU (URFIU) through engaging poster presentations—and we couldn’t be prouder!
📊 Sofia Teixeira, Mell Rosales Varela, and Andrea Marin Belmar mentored by Prof. Sheng Guo examined “Does Military Spending Boost Domestic or Foreign Economies?”, offering insights into the economic impacts of defense expenditures.
🌐 Elizabeth Aparina, Valeria Alvarez, and Yan Gong Bi mentored by Prof. Alfonso Rodriguez presented “Social Media and Trust in the National Government: A Global Perspective”, exploring how digital platforms influence institutional trust across countries.
👏 Congratulations to our students and their mentors for their impressive work and valuable contributions to the field of economics!
