Bio

Robert Furton is a Research Coordinator at FIU’s Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy (JGI). At JGI, his work includes the coordination and tracking of research projects on various national security topics to include illegal unreported and unregulated fishing, climate change, domestic security, migration, and energy related issues within Latin America and the Caribbean in support of the FIU-U.S. Southern Command Academic Partnership. Additionally, he plans, coordinates, and executes research convenings to include roundtables and conferences, along with other administrative and logistical support as needed to ensure the success of JGI as whole. He is currently serving in the Marine Corps Reserves where he has supported UNITAS LXIII in 2022 in Brazil.
