Bio

Lisa Mueller teaches courses in anthropology and sociology. She is an FIU alumna, having earned her MA in Asian Studies at FIU in 2019 and her PhD in Global and Sociocultural Studies at FIU in 2022. Her research interests are wide-ranging, broadly focusing on the intersections of other cultures. Her research on human rights museums in Buraku communities in Japan has been published in Museum Anthropology and Social Science Japan Journal

In addition, Dr. Mueller participated in the Neighborhoods of Refuge PhotoVoice project, which centered on the lived experiences of people experiencing homelessness. Dr. Mueller also co-authored a research publication on social ties and permanent supportive housing, which will appear in an upcoming edited volume. She is also a regular volunteer at the Community Warming Center in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Mueller is also a globally ranked competitive Scrabble player. Her current research examines neurodivergence and sociality within competitive Scrabble.
