Exploring the Library of Congress Collections with Allina Migoni (American Folklife Center, Library of Congress) Creating Community-generated Collections with Shelly Justement (American Folklife Center, Library of Congress) 2:00pm-6:15pm: Panel Discussions in SIPA II 102 Preserving the history of the diaspora. Panelists: Keith Moore (Profiles in Black Miami), Helen Gage (The Bethel House Bahamian American Museum), Kamila Pritchett (The Black Archives History & Research Foundation of South Florida Inc.), Dr. Andy Ingraham (Bahamas Diaspora Association). Panel Chair: Enrique Rosell (Knight Foundation) Panelists: Kishlane Smith (former Deputy Co-Chair of the National Youth Junkanoo Committee), A’Keitha Carey (Florida International University), Sasha Wells (University of the Bahamas). Panel Chair Marya Meyer (The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade). Presented by Ten North Group Panelists: Lea Nickless (Artist and Curator), Dr. Valerie Patterson (Clinical Professor of Public Administration, FIU) and Gene Tinnie (Artist and Cultural Activist). Panel Chair: Dr. Willie Logan (Ten North Group) 6:30pm-8pm: Evening reception, musical performance and Junkanoo Rush in the Green School Courtyard South Florida PBS will be in attendance to cover the event for the upcoming season of their Emmy award-winning program Art Loft. The segment will bring the Junkanoo's dynamic experience to audiences across South Florida and beyond. |
November 14: Exhibition and Cultural Resource Fair |
