Bio
Dr. Wernick is a Teaching Professor in the Department of International Business at Florida International University's (FIU's) College of Business. He teaches courses on international business, corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, and global risk management.
Dr. Wernick is an award-winning case writer and author of numerous academic and policy-oriented studies on global business, corporate risk management, and sustainable enterprise. He also edits the Journal of Global Business and Community (JGBC) – an undergraduate e-journal that focuses on issues at the nexus of international business, governance, and society.
Dr. Wernick works closely with FIU undergraduate business students in his capacity as Faculty Advisor for the International Business Honors Society (IBHS). In 2025, he was recognized as a Changemaking Educator by the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of South Florida for his role in founding the Bandhwari Women’s Project, an initiative supporting economic development and women’s empowerment in India.
Dr. Wernick has designed and taught executive education courses and workshops at ESAN University in Peru, the Zagreb School of Economics in Croatia, the Luxembourg School of Business (LSB), the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, the University of Galway, and the UEH-ISB in Vietnam.
Prior to joining FIU, Dr. Wernick worked as an analyst with a Miami-based international security consultancy and was director of communications for the Americas Society and Council of the Americas in New York. Dr. Wernick received his B.A. in Political Science from Tulane University and both his M.A. and Ph.D. from FIU.
