DOHGSA successful annual conference

"This year’s Department of History Graduate Student Association’s Fourteenth Annual History Conference took place on April 4, 2014, at Florida International University. The conference theme, “Conversations in History: Currents in the Atlantic World,” aimed to connect the scholarship of a wide variety of topics and disciplines and explored the multifaceted currents shaping our Atlantic World. A truly international conference, this year’s exceptional graduate scholars represented universities from across the United States and Canada. The research presented at the conference spanned topics from all throughout the Atlantic World, from the cobblestone corners in Boston to the rivers of Bolivia, and back to the pirates of Biscayne Bay. The esteemed Dr. Cañizares-Esguerra, a founder in the field of Atlantic History, presented the keynote speech, titled “Other Cosmopolitans: The African, Female, and Amerindian Lettered Cities in Spanish America.”
