Mohamad G. Alkadry receives FIU’s Outstanding Graduate Program Director Award

Dr. Mohamad Alkadry, Director of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) was awarded the Provost’s Graduate Program Director (GPD) Award for extensive contributions to the Master of Public Administration programs. Under his leadership, the program witnessed a 100% improvement in retention rates. Dr. Alkadry diversified the MPA program offerings by leading the efforts to provide a full-online MPA program and an Executive MPA program at Brickell Avenue. He also oversaw the design of a Graduate Certificate in Public Finance, Procurement and Contract Management. In addition, he undertook a comprehensive curriculum review of the MPA program and all six Graduate Certificates offered by the program.

Maintaining the NASPAA accreditation (the Global Standard in Public Service Education) and introducing higher admissions standards was not only a priority but also a very important accomplishment for the MPA program and the Department.

Dr. Alkadry has been committed to providing a quality MPA. The FIU MPA program continues to reign on top of the roster of institutions in the South Florida region (2016 U.S. World News Report rankings of U.S. Public Affairs Program).

In the words of Dr. Howard Frank, Department Chair, Dr. Alkadry revolutionized the operation of the Master of Public Administration Program and he’s worthy of receiving this year’s GPD award.
