From April 6-10, 2015, the third Annual Seminar on Governance and Democratic Institutions for Young Leaders of the Americas took place at the Sofitel Hotel in the City of Miami. During the seminar, invited guests from all over Latin America gave presentations and participated in sessions where many ideas and policies were discussed and exchanged. In addition to policy discussions and presentations, the Young Leaders also visited with government officials in Miami-Dade County as well as touring some of the various agencies throughout the County. A major goal of the seminar was to allow the Young Leaders to see how government and its agencies operate in South Florida in order to promote economic development. The Young Leaders were also given the opportunity to visit the city of Tallahassee. In Tallahassee, the invited guests attended various meetings and discussions with Florida State Legislators and various agencies in the State capital.

The objective of the seminar, oriented towards political leaders of our hemisphere, was to exchange ideas and experiences for the construction and strengthening of democracy and governance in the Americas, as well as promoting a better understanding between the State of Florida and Latin America. In this context, the seminar analyzed the role of parliaments, political parties, and members of the executive powers, the means of communication, as well as others, in the strengthening of democratic governance. The seminar also considered themes of stability and economic growth that are fundamental to commercial trade between the State of Florida and the region of Latin America.
