From February 25 to 27, 2015, the Second Annual Democracy Conference was hosted. It was organized by the Florida State Legislature in conjunction with Florida International University and the Institute for Public Management and Community Service and Center for Democracy and Good Governance. This conference brought together various community leaders from the United States and abroad in order for them to discuss and exchange ideas, policies and experiences with one another and thus find ways to promote the building and strengthening of good democracy throughout the Americas. The participants discussed the roles of national government, regional government, political parties and executive branches in the strengthening of democratic governance. The unique role that the State of Florida plays in interacting with Central and South America with respect to stability and economic growth was also one of the central topics of discussion.
