Chile Regional Seminar

In January, the Chilean Regional Seminar was put together by The Chilean Association of Municipalities along with Florida International University and the Institute of Public Management and Community Services with The Center for Democracy and Good Governance. The goal of this seminar was to bring awareness to and compare the decentralization processes occurring in Chile, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. With the participation of local leaders from the region in company with distinguished experts from Florida International University, the seminar workshop and discussion shed light on the important role municipal government plays in the development and advancement of decentralization in order to give local governments more authority and responsibility over public functions in Chile, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.
