Deported: Ayiti Images Film Series Premiere and Panel Discussion

On October 1, 2014, the Ayiti Images Traveling Film Series partnered with FIU’s Latin American and Caribbean Center for the premiere of Deported, the first in a series of documentaries directed by Haitians and Haitian Americans as one way to give voice to the Haitian community. A panel on U.S. Deportation Policy featured Rachèle Magloire, co-director of the award-winning film; Astrid Arrarás, FIU Senior Lecturer and Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Politics & International Relations; Juan Carlos Gómez, Director of FIU’s Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic; and moderator Chantalle Verna, FIU Associate Professor in the Departments of History and Politics & International Relations.

The screening would not have been possible without the support of the Ayiti Images Film Series, the Green Family Foundation, and FIU's Haitian Student Organization.
