Broad Fellowships Call for Proposals

The School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) is pleased to announce the 2012-2013 competition for research scholarship awards for junior, tenure-earning faculty members as well as advanced doctoral students (ABD level) in one of the SIPA departments or programs. Faculty and students meeting these eligibility criteria are invited to apply for the Broad Fellowship Awards, made possible through a generous gift from Morris and Anita Broad. Selected Fellows will receive funding that can be used for fieldwork or archival research; the purchase of supplies such as computer hardware, software and books; and conference travel in support of their scholarship.

The purpose of the fellowship is to provide FIU faculty members and doctoral students at early stages in their careers with an opportunity to supplement other resources for enhancing their research so that they will be better able to complete their manuscripts, grant proposals or dissertations.

Up to 15 fellowships may be awarded for research to be conducted in Summer and Fall 2012, and Spring 2013. Faculty may receive awards of up to $1,000 and doctoral candidates may receive up to $750.

A one-page proposal stating the proposed use of funds for the research project along with a CV and budget should be sent to Pedro D. Botta, SIPA Director of Communications, at by Monday, March 19, 2012. Fellowship awards will be announced by April 9, 2012.
