SIPA Auditorium Seat Campaign
Phase I of the new building that will house the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) is almost finished. The building’s most remarkable feature is a two-story auditorium that cantilevers 40 feet outwards and 17 feet off the ground. With seating capacity for 484, the Ruth K. and Shepard Broad Auditorium-named after a generous gift from the Broad Foundation-is the largest space of its kind on campus and will be outfitted with top-of-the line broadcast media equipment. It will become the venue of choice for many of SIPA’s and FIU’s high-profile events.
Each of the 484 seats in the auditorium can, and will be named with an appropriate gift. There are 99 seats in the first four rows, the VIP section, which can be named for a gift of $1,000. There are 385 additional seats that can be named for a gift of just $100. Our goal is to have all seats named by the time SIPA I is officially dedicated in February of 2011. All contributions are expected to be matched dollar for dollar by the State of Florida and will be directed toward the completion of the SIPA complex.
