Back to Containment: Dealing with Putin’s Regime
Book Presentation by David J. Kramer

Thursday, December 7, 2017 | 6:30 PM | Books & Books | 265 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables

Join the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs for the presentation of Back to Containment: Dealing with Putin’s Regime, published by the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University. Author David Kramer will discuss the long sweep of US-Russia relations and the various post-Soviet era dynamics that brought Vladimir Putin to power. This timely conversation will highlight Putin’s controversial domestic and international policies—aggressive human rights crackdown; military action against neighboring countries; audacious cyberattacks, including seeking to influence the 2016 US presidential election—and the attempts by three US administrations to reset relations with Russia.

David J. Kramer joined FIU’s Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs as a Senior Fellow in May 2017. Before moving to Miami, Mr. Kramer worked in Washington, D.C., for 24 years, most recently with the McCain Institute. Previously, he served as President of Freedom House; Senior Transatlantic Fellow at the Marshall Fund; and eight years in the U.S. Department of State under President George W. Bush, including as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.

Complimentary copies of the book will be available. Reception immediately follows presentation.
